A Bargeman's Tale is a narrative work designed for Chichester Canal Basin. It tells the story of the ill feted canal as narrated by Henry Smithers, a bargeman who drowned in 1863.

The project involved the development of several types of hydrophone, and collaborative work with local poet Andrew Bailey and students from Chichester High School for Girls.
