These large format paintings are not strictly a series but were made alongside each other. Each evolved over around 8 moths. Starting with the chance action of spattered red wine, the surfaces were then reworked through a series of self-sabotages and rescues, evolving the images in a continual game of consequences.

The resulting characters developed into transpositions of classical paintings (El Greco's St Francis, Barbieri's St Paul) mis-remembered and confused with contemporary cartoon motifs and elements of modernist paintings history. The result is a sort of schitzo-painting, hovering between meaning and absurdity, straddling, decorations and perversion, grotesqueness and comedy.
