| Made in Microsoft Word 2000, a drawing of the
artist’s wife looking out to sea uses normal, bold, italic and
underline styles to create the image. The text is made up entirely out
of lowercase “x”s.
The artist also made a portrait of himself, using a typewriter, varying the weight of the ink by varying the pressure applied to each key as he went sequentially though the alphabet. In both of these works the text has no meaning at all; the letters serve the image, reduced to nothing more than individual pixels. |
